New KB Bios Driver Rocks!

I have to admit that when I hear a new version of anything comes out… I have to have it. My bf will agree with that, especially if its tech. When a year ago I had the chance to get my first Alienware Laptop, I didn’t spare any expense to get it. I immediately opened an Titanium account over $6000 and blew half of it within 10 minutes.

IMG_0129[1]My M17x Ripley model as it is named has served me well. Well until I heard about Windows 7, now I’m one of the lucky ones who had Windows Vista Ultimate but on a kick ass machine, so it ran awesomely. When Windows 7 was announced that it would run on more machines mainly due to its lesser grip on system resources and smaller memory snorting, well to say the least I couldn’t wait.

I was mortified… I mean it’s new tech, its suppose to light up.. and it wasn’t.

So I pre-ordered my Win7 Ultimate 4 months in advance and waited. And Waited. And Waited, until it arrived, once installed I was hit with an array of problems, not from Windows itself, but because in my hast to upgrade, had not realized that Alienware hadn’t the chance to upgrade all my drivers to the new 64bit versions, nor have my work printer drivers been upgraded either.

Sooo without hast I spent about 2 days scouring the internet for useable drivers, I had to settle for WIN NT drivers and shaky Vista 64 drivers. It was a hit and miss adventure with some printers  working and then all disappearing for hours at a time only to magically reappear. Finally after about a month I had all my new 64 bit drivers and everything was working fab. Notice the use of “was” there. Well this morning the lighted keyboard on my M17x decided to stop lighting. I was mortified… I mean it’s new tech, its suppose to light up.. and it wasn’t.

Well my friends… and quick 5 minute stroll to the Alienware Support Download section and badda bing badda boom… my new bios for the keyboard was installed and upgraded and woohoo… now supports multiple colors across the the board.

I am so thrilled now with my ever soooo gay keyboard light in all the colors of the rainbow.
